Forze GPS - The first weight management tool designed specifically for athletes
WHAT IS IT

  • Forze GPS uses a patented blend of healthy fats, protein and calcium, plus added fiber to activate the body's natural appetite control signal. Forze GPS is designed to be taken between meals, as a snack replacement and to leave you feeling satisfied longer. Forze GPS helps control your hunger so you achieve your performance goals.

    WHO USES IT

    Dave Scott

  • "I wish Forze had been around when I was racing. It’s a very effective tool that quells appetite and makes it easier to maintain an optimal power-to-weight ratio for racing performance. I am very in tune with my body, and I know how the things I eat and drink affect me. And I know Forze works. Plus it tastes fantastic! "

    Leanda Cave
  • "I love the flavor, texture, and consistency of Forze. It is more substantial than other drinks and makes me feel satisfied. It really tides over my hunger between meals and keeps me from snacking on things I try to avoid. The packaging is so convenient that I can take it anywhere. I always have Forze in my car, so I'm never tempted to resort to a fast-food drive-thru! "

    Laura Bennett
  • "One of my goals is to be efficient in every aspect of my sport, including nutrition. Forze helps me fuel my body more efficiently by satisfying my appetite with fewer calories. I am very selective about what I put in my body, and Forze passes every test, for taste, healthiness and effectiveness."

    Pip Taylor
  • "Getting down to and maintaining a race weight that is optimal for performance is not always easy. Despite long and hard training hours I have to be mindful of what and how much I am eating and this can lead to periods of hunger which are not always pleasant! Forze really helps me by taking off that edge. With it I feel more satisfied on less quantity, and because Forze actually tastes good I don't feel deprived of anything else I might be craving. I consider Forze an essential training tool that I use in my preparation towards fast racing. "

    Brooke Davison
  • "Forze bars are by far the best-tasting nutritional bars I have ever tasted. I am amazed that a product this effect can taste so good! "

    Greg Bennett
  • "With Forze I now have a product that allows me to have a tasty snack between meals that gives me the satisfaction I am after and doesn't trouble my stomach during training. It’s amazing how such a light product can keep my hunger at bay for hours."

    HOW IT WORKS
  • Forze GPS is the first and only nutrition tool formulated especially to help athletes reach and maintain their optimal performance weight. The key to getting leaner is appetite regulation. Specifically, your objective is to sustain a diet that satisfies your appetite each day without supplying more calories than you need. Most people, and even many athletes, find it difficult to satisfy their appetite each day without eating more calories than they need and consequently accumulating excess body fat stores.
  • Forze GPS solves this problem by satisfying your appetite in a calorically efficient manner. Simply put: Forze GPS provides more satiety (or appetite satisfaction) with fewer calories than any other food. By adding Forze GPS to your diet you will naturally eat less over the course of the day without feeling hungry, and as a result you will become leaner and perform better.

    Appetite 101

To understand how Forze GPS works, you must first know a little about how the body regulates appetite. The physiology of appetite control is complex and multifaceted, and scientists still have much to learn about it. What we do know is that the two main centers of appetite control are the gut and the brain. The presence of food, and specific nutrients, in the gut generates chemicals and signals that travel to the brain, where the feeling of satiety emerges, resulting in the loss of the desire to eat.

The most important chemical in appetite control is cholecystokinin (CCK), a natural protein produced by the body. The primary action of CCK is to close down the valve from the stomach to the GI tract, slowing the movement of food from the stomach. When food stays in the stomach longer you feel fuller for extended periods of time. Additionally, CCK acts in the appetite centers of the brain to extend the feeling of satiety.

One of the key discoveries that researchers have made since CCK was discovered more than 40 years ago is that certain nutrients stimulate CCK, hence satiety, more effectively than others. For example, you have to consume 10 times as many sugar calories as fat calories to get the same level of satiety. The nutrients that act most powerfully on CCK are soy and casein proteins, calcium, and certain unsaturated fats. A food or beverage that contains adequate amounts of these nutrients, and few calories from simple carbohydrates and saturated fats, will satisfy the appetite with the fewest number of calories possible. And that’s exactly what Forze GPS does.

    Gastric Peptide Stimulators

The “GPS” in Forze GPS stands for “Gastric Peptide Stimulators,” which is a fancy name for nutrients that affect CCK in special ways. There are three main ways that nutrients can affect CCK to enhance satiety. A specific nutrient may:

  • Stimulate the release of CCK in the gut
  • Extend the action of CCK
  • Increase the sensitivity of the brain to CCK

Each of the active GPS ingredients works in a different one of these three ways. Specifically, soy and casein proteins act primarily to stimulate the release of CCK in the gut, which slows the emptying of food from the stomach and sends a signal to the appetite control center of the brain. Certain unsaturated fats act primarily to keep CCK levels high after food is consumed, so that hunger doesn’t return as quickly. And calcium increases the sensitivity of tissue cells to CCK, so that the same amount of CCK produces more satiety.

Because it contains optimal amounts of each of these nutrients and few carbs and saturated fats, Forze GPS yields as much satiety as a large snack with much fewer calories. The results of numerous studies on the Forze GPS formulation have demonstrated that it:

  • Extends the feeling of fullness for up to 3.5 hours after eating
  • Decreases food intake up to 20%
  • Slows gastric emptying
  • Acts on the appetite centers of the brain with 4-6 minutes.

Best of all, Forze GPS achieves all of these results with ingredients from real foods. In Forze GPS, nature and science have come together to create the ultimate nutrition tool to help athletes get leaner and perform better.

    FORZE GPS CLINICAL STUDIES

    Trial 1
    Objective:
Measure the effect of the on the Forze GPS Formulation on satiety in human subjects
    # Subjects: 10
    Age: 20-57
    BMI: 19-25

    Format: Double blind, placebo controlled
Design: Subjects participated in two satiety tests. They were given the Forze GPS Formulation or a placebo and then consumed a 340-calorie meal. Following consumption of the meal they recorded their ratings of hunger and how much food they could consume on a visual analog scale every 15 minutes for 3½ hours.
Results: Subjects receiving the Forze GPS Formulation experienced a 30% decrease in hunger versus those who received the placebo and showed a 44% decrease in prospective food consumption. The differences were significant at p < .05.
Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the Forze GPS Formulation was more effective than the placebo in reducing hunger 3½ hours after consumption of a meal.

    Trial 2

    Objective:
Measure the effect of the Forze GPS Formulation on caloric intake of a second meal consumed 3½ hours after an initial one.
    # Subjects: 20 Age: 32-55 BMI: 25-30
    Format: Double blind, placebo controlled
Design: Subjects participated in two satiety tests. They were given the Forze GPS Formulation or a placebo and then consumed a 340-calorie meal. Following consumption of the meal they recorded their ratings of hunger and satiety every 15 minutes using a visual analog scale. Three and a half hours later subjects consumed an open-ended meal consisting of macaroni and cheese. The amount of food consumed was weighed and recorded.
Results: Compared to a placebo beverage, the Forze GPS Formulation decreased hunger from 75 minutes through 210 minutes. At 210 minutes hunger was 45.9% less in the Forze GPS Formulation trial. Similar results were seen for satiety. After 3½ hours, subjects receiving the Forze GPS Formulation consumed 154 calories versus 297 calories for the placebo trial. All results were significant at p < .05.
Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the Forze GPS Formulation significantly extended the feeling of fullness and decreased feelings of hunger over 3½ hours. The Forze GPS Formulation also reduced caloric intake by 14% in a second meal consuming 3½ hours later.

    Trial 3

    Objective:
To measure the effect of the Forze GPS Formulation on gastric emptying following consumption of a standard meal. # Subjects: 12 Age: 18-65 BMI: 25-29.9
    Format: Double blind, placebo controlled
Design: On each study day subjects consumed either the Forze GPS Formulation or a placebo. They then consumed a radiolabeled test meal consisting of a two-egg omelet, white bread, butter and water. Scintigraphic images were taken at five-minute intervals for three hours after consumption of the test meal, and at 10-minute intervals for the next three hours.
Results: The Forze GPS Formulation significantly reduced the rate of gastric emptying following consumption of a test meal compared to placebo. There was a 30% decrease in the rate of gastric emptying of the solid phase of the meal and a 40% decrease in the rate of gastric emptying of the liquid phase. p < .03 Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the Forze GPS Formulation significantly decreases the rate of a meal's gastric emptying when compared to a placebo, and that the probable mode of action of the Forze GPS Formulation is through the activation of cholecystokinin release.

    Trial 4

    Objective:
To measure the effect of the Forze GPS Formulation on caloric intake.
    # Subjects: 20
    Age: 21-45
    BMI: 25-31
Format: Double blind, placebo controlled, crossover
Design: Subjects were given the Forze GPS Formulation or a placebo. They were then provided with a pasta lunch and instructed to consume as much food as they wished within 25 minutes. The amount of food consumed was measured and recorded. Following lunch, subjects were asked to complete visual analog scale assessments for hunger, fullness and how much food they wanted to eat. VAS assessments were recorded immediately after lunch and 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 minutes after lunch.
Results: Subjects receiving the Forze GPS Formulation showed a 20.9% reduction in caloric intake compared to subjects receiving the placebo (p < 0.5). There was also an extension of satiety at three hours as measured by the VAS ratings.
Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the Forze GPS Formulation decreased caloric intake. Additionally, subjects consuming the Forze GPS Formulation demonstrated an increase in feelings of satiety when compared to the placebo despite consuming significantly fewer calories.

    Obesity Research

A NOVEL NUTRIENT FORMULATION, DELAYS GASTRIC EMPTYING TO A GREATER EXTENT THAN AN EQUICALORIC GLUCOSE MEAL. TANYA J. LITTLE, DAVID THOMPSON, Salford, UK; Manchester, UK
    Obesity Vol. 15 Suppl, A57, 2007

Background: It is well established that nutrients, present in the gastrointestinal tract, slow the rate of gastric emptying and thereby influence fullness and suppress subsequent energy intake. The extent to which this occurs is dependent on the nutrient composition of the ingested meal. Forze GPS, is a novel low-calorie (50 kcal/236 ml) nutrient formulation that has been shown to reduce caloric intake and extend the feeling of satiety following a fixed calorie meal. Whether the mechanism by which Forze GPS, ingested as a preload, suppresses appetite is mediated by the slowing of gastric emptying is unknown.
Aims: To determine whether Forze GPS would delay gastric emptying, suppress appetite and reduce the maximum tolerated volume of water, when compared with equicaloric glucose, and a non-nutrient control, meal.
Methods: 8 healthy subjects (5 male, 3 female) of normal body weight were studied on three occasions following a 12 hour overnight fast, in a double-blind, randomized fashion. The effects of chocolate-flavored test meals consisting of (i) Forze GPS (50 kcal), (ii) equicaloric glucose or (iii) low-nutrient control (5.3 kcal) on gastric emptying (13C acetate breath test), appetite perceptions were assessed over 45 min. Results: Gastric emptying was delayed to a greater extent, with cumulative 13CO2:12CO2 values being ~30 % lower following Forze GPS, when compared with glucose and control (* P < 0.05, Figure 1), with no difference between glucose and control.
Conclusions: Forze GPS delays gastric emptying more potently than an equicaloric glucose meal. This effect would make Forze GPS a valuable dietary aid when used prior to meal ingestion, in conjunction with reduced caloric intake.
